Overview

Research about reproduction is growing around the world, and Canada is no exception. New developments and interest about abortion care, reproductive technologies, reproductive coercion, 2SLGBTQIA+ parenting, midwifery, menopause, birth trauma, childlessness by choice, the intersections of sexual and reproductive health, and others, have given rise to new and exciting research.

This online one-day workshop on reproduction and reproductive justice, will focus on the Canadian context. Our research group understands reproduction broadly, taking up intersectional, critical, anti-racist, and decolonial perspectives. From this view, the idea of Canada is always already contested, and we are hoping to encourage researchers exploring how colonialism, transnationalism, and borders shape reproduction in Canada.

Co-organized by: Alana Cattapan, Holly McKenzie, and Amrita Kumar-Ratta

Details

The event will take place online via Zoom, on May 11, 2023 from 11am - 4pm Eastern. (See the schedule below)

The expectations for the workshop are that participants will spend fifteen minutes presenting completed research or research-in-progress and have opportunities for feedback, conversation, and networking. Our goal is to provide an interdisciplinary, generative space to share new work, and foster community among emerging researchers studying reproduction in/about the Canadian context.
